A brief history of the founding of Forum Suryoyo
The idea for Forum Suryoyo e.V. arose during a series of meetings that took place in Germany between 2022 and 2025.
The first meeting took place in October 2022 on the initiative of Mr. Amanuel Benyamin, whose personal vision and commitment brought together more than one hundred distinguished personalities from various professional fields, including doctors, engineers, scientists, artists, cultural figures, politicians, and entrepreneurs.
The participants traveled from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden to attend this first meeting, which Mr. Benyamin organized entirely at his own expense.
The aim of this meeting was to find meaningful solutions and perspectives for a better future for the Suryoye people. Mr. Benyamin’s deeply rooted sense of patriotism and commitment resonated strongly with all participants, who shared a common desire to preserve and strengthen the culture and community life of the Suryoye.
The opening meeting in Gütersloh, Germany, was followed by further workshops and online sessions.
One of the most important results of these joint efforts was the establishment of a Forum Suryoyo. The participants’ discussions revealed a broad consensus on the need for stronger cooperation between existing institutions, more open dialogue and greater efficiency and unity—all with the aim of preserving and reviving the culture and identity of the community (mardutho u hiyutho suryeyto).
Although a wide range of opinions and numerous suggestions were exchanged, these discussions underscored an important common realization: our community needs a professional and inclusive platform for dialogue.
This realization ultimately led to the founding of Forum Suryoyo e.V., a non-partisan initiative dedicated to connecting Suryoye worldwide, promoting new ideas and strategies for strengthening the community, fostering unity across divisions and disputes, and reviving trust among our youth.
The basis for all this and the motivation for the steps ahead do not stem from necessity, but rather from the enormous potential of our community.
